The power of transferring energy from one person to another is transformative. There continues to be a lot written about epigenetics from a neuroscience view point that can assist us as leaders in the modern workplace. It informs how we work using interval patterns, how we communicate, how our environment impacts our epigenetics, and how we relay messages internally. The other interesting thing about epigenetics is how we as human beings influence each other through the transfer resonance energy. For example, by this I mean if we engage in self-sabotage, negative self-talk, run old scripts given to us, or not engage self-kindness and positive self talk, our resonance is low and therefore we remit a lower energy. When we engage self love, self-kindness and continually clean out old and negative patterns we remit higher energy. We could say this is about being positive, engaging happiness principles etc, of all which is accurate, but it is more than that. It is about understanding how the subconscious mind tricks us into thinking that some things are true or accurate, for example, ‘I am not important’, ‘I am not worthy’, ‘They think this about me….’ We run these scripts throughout our lives of which everyone does at a subconscious level, however, we often don’t take the time to challenge or change old scripts due to lack of time, not having coaching or mentoring etc. Epigenetics in this context is critically important as the more we deal with our unconscious scripts and self-talk, we can change our energy exchange with other people and live more transformative lives and therefore be more effective as leaders. So how does epigenetics relate to leadership? Firstly, leaders influence others through how they transfer their energy, the power of their language and being able to identify old scripts in staff and self that impact the workplace. Epigenetics in leadership is also about assessing the energy of a whole team and how collective resonance remains productive. The important thing is that leaders have a vitally important role to play in the way that vicarious energy is transferred and used in the workplace setting. You are important, you are worthy, your role is critical in your workplace, you are valued and appreciated. Without you others cannot follow, for with you there is care and kindness in your workplace. For more information about leadership please see my latest book.
